A ramp foraging workshop and exploration on bicycle

Sunday, April 27th – Indian Valley, VA – 2 PM – (dinner @ 6:30 PM)

Cost: $125 (includes Gnomestead Hollow’s Ramp and Mushroom Farm Dinner)

This workshop will offer participants an immersive, hands-on exploration into the world of ramp foraging, propagation and preparation. Participants will cruise along picturesque, easy-grade gravel roads on restored 90’s chromoly-frame mountain bikes in search of the wild and wonderful Allium tricoccum (aka the ramp). These incredibly delicious plants are a spring favorite among foragers and chefs, alike. We will show you how to identify, transplant, ferment and cook ramps, which we will collect on our bicycle foray earlier in the day. Workshop attendees will each take home ramps to enjoy, along with the knowledge and experience associated with ramp habitat identification and culinary preparation.

Following the workshop, we invite everyone to join us for hors d’oeuvres before indulging in a collaborative ramp and gourmet mushroom inspired dinner– featuring our farm’s cultivated mushrooms and vegetable ferments, along with a variety of beautiful veggies from local farms in our area. This exquisite creekside dinner will showcase the Wild Ramp in all of its seasonal, savory magnificence – along with the cornucopia of spring goodness produced by our county’s local growers and producers.
